Ports and protocols used by Sync IT

Sync IT client

  • Discovery of tracker and relay IPs:
    HTTP port 80 to (via DNS name) (

  • Connecting to the tracker server for automatic peer discovery:
    TCP and UDP port 3000 to (via direct IP,,,,

  • Connecting to relay server to transfer data if direct connection is not possible:
    TCP and UDP port 3000 to (via direct IP,,,

  • Direct connection to transfer data and listening incoming connections:
    TCP and UDP port <configured_by_admin> to remote peer

  • Peer discovery in LAN
    Multicast UDP over port 3838

  • Automatic port mapping over UPnP and NAT-PMP
    UDP multicast to port 1900
    UDP unicast to default gateway port 5351

Management server

  • Listening TCP port 8445 to receive file operations events from clients

  • Listening TCP port 8444 for connecting clients and distributing new policies

  • Listening TCP port 8443 for connecting administrators and providing WebUI of the management server

Tracker server

  • Listening TCP and UDP port 3000 to help Sync clients find each other
NB. This article specifies default ports for Sync IT components. The majority of ports can be reconfigured by the administrator.
